ART STAYS 2023 I Jure Pukl Broken Circle Trio I otvoritveni koncert / opening concert

Saksofonist Jure Pukl velja za enega najpomembnejših ustvarjalcev slovenske džezovske glasbe. Prejemnik nagrade Prešernovega sklada (2015) je študiral na Dunaju, v Haagu, na Berklee College of Music (z mojstri, kot so Joe Lovano in George Garzone) in dokončal magistrski študij na Glasbeni akademiji v Gradcu. V svoji karieri je igral z zvezdami, kot so Dave Liebman, Branford Marsalis, Esperanza Spalding, George Lewis, Maceo Parker, Vijay Iyer, Jeff Tain Watts in mnogimi drugimi. S svojo virtuoznostjo na tenorskem in sopranskem saksofonu je navdušil občinstvo in kritike v Evropi in ZDA. Ne le kot izvajalec, ki živi in ustvarja med New Yorkom in Velenjem, temveč tudi kot avtor slovenske glasbe je ambasador slovenske kulture v svetu. Njegove avtorske kompozicije so drzne, sodobne, melodično kreativne in ritmično pestre, s srcem pa se posveča moderni interpretaciji džezovske glasbe.

Jure Pukl je izdal deset avtorskih zgoščenk, ki so prejele odlične kritike v revijah Downbeat, Jazzwise, Jazzpodium, na portalu All of Jazz ter v časopisih The New York Times in The Guardian, kjer so ga označili za »vzhajajočo zvezdo generacije, ki ustvarja glasbo novega stoletja«. Tudi njegov najnovejši enajsti album Broken Circles (Whirlwind Recordings, 2020) jasno zrcali njegovo samozavest, samozavedanje in zrelost. Glasbi z najbolj angažirane plošče do zdaj, ki jo je navdahnilo aktualno družbenopolitično dogajanje, bomo na Ptuju prisluhnili v izvedbi tria: Juretu Puklu se bosta na odru pridružila še mlada slovenska leva - kontrabasist Jošt Lampret in bobnar Gaj Bostič.

Saxophonist Jure Pukl is considered one of the most important creators of Slovenian jazz music. The recipient of the Prešeren Fund Prize (2015), he studied in Vienna, The Hague, Berklee College of Music (with masters such as Joe Lovano and George Garzone) and completed his master's studies at the Graz Academy of Music. During his career he has played with stars such as Dave Liebman, Branford Marsalis, Esperanza Spalding, George Lewis, Maceo Parker, Vijay Iyer, Jeff Tain Watts and many others. His virtuosity on tenor and soprano saxophone has impressed audiences and critics in Europe and the USA. Not only as a performer living and working between New York and Velenje, but also as a composer of Slovenian music, he is an ambassador of Slovenian culture in the world. His original compositions are bold, contemporary, melodically creative and rhythmically varied, and his heart is in the modern interpretation of jazz music.

Jure Pukl has released ten CDs of his own work, which have received excellent reviews in Downbeat, Jazzwise, Jazzpodium, All of Jazz, The New York Times and The Guardian, where he has been described as "a rising star of a generation making music in the new century". His latest eleventh album, Broken Circles (Whirlwind Recordings, 2020), also clearly reflects his self-confidence, self-awareness and maturity. The music from his most engaging album to date, inspired by current socio-political events, will be performed by a trio in Ptuj: Jure Pukl will be joined on stage by two young Slovenian lions - double bassist Jošt Lampret and drummer Gaj Bostič.
